For more than twenty years, L. Scott Coogler served as a federal judge in the Northern District of Alabama, including three years as Chief Judge. Elected by the Eleventh Circuit to the Judicial Conference of the United States, he served on its Executive Committee by appointment of the Chief Justice. He continues to teach at the University of Alabama School of Law. Since retiring from the bench in 2025, he has focused his practice on Special Master appointments, high-stakes mediation, and of counsel engagements.
